Boomerang UK Wabbit Squirilla Marketing Campaign

Boomerang UK Wabbit Squirilla Marketing Campaign: Kids TV Channel Goes Nuts

Boomerang UK have been promoting their latest new show, Wabbit: A Looney Tunes Production by carrying out a “squirilla” (a play on words on guerrilla and squirrel) marketing campaign by unleashing squirrels wearing capes featuring the Boomerang logo into parks around London. The squirrels is a reference to Bugs Bunny’s new sidekick ‘Squeaks the Squirrel’ as seen in the new show. The campaign organised by Turner Broadcasting will be visiting other parks and playgrounds across the country and will be speaking to 4-7 year olds and their parents in the squirrel’s natural environment.

Charlotte Chisnall, Director of Communications, UK & EMEA at Turner Broadcasting made a statement about the nutty marketing idea:

“We are always looking for innovative ways to market our television offering to young audiences and their families. And unusual guerrilla or in this case ‘squirilla’ advertising really engages with our target market. This time we have been inspired by the looney antics of Bugs and his best friend Squeaks to come up with something a little bit nutty. The squirrel provides a non-traditional platform as well as a much loved woodland creature and it can deliver messaging hand in hand with traditional campaign models”.

Turner UK have also announced that they will be executing similar PR marketing campaigns in 2016. Wabbit premiered on Boomerang UK and Ireland on Monday 2nd November and airs every weekday at 5.30pm.
