Cartoon Network At Animation Dingle Festival 2018
Tomorrow (23rd March) is the first day of Animation Dingle 2018, a yearly animation festival in Dingle, Ireland. Every year, artists and animators, animation industry leaders and broadcasting executives get together to celebrate the very best of animated content from Ireland, Europe and around the world with a series of conferences, award ceremonies and screenings. The festival is now in its sixth year and will run from Friday 23rd March to Saturday 24th March.
Zia Bales, Senior Acquisitions Manager, Turner EMEA Kids (Cartoon Network, Boomerang, Boing and Cartoonito) will be taking part in the festival as a judge for a cartoon pitch competition called “The Big Pitcher”, which will involve six animation students presenting their animation idea to a panel of leading industry experts. The winner be offered a 6-month paid internship at Irish animation studio – JAM Media and also a free Festival Pass to the Cartoon Springboard pitching event which will be held on Tuesday 4th to Thursday 6th December 2018 in Valenciennes, France.

The Amazing World of Gumball executive producer – Sarah Fell will also be judging this year’s International Student Animation Awards at the festival. The awards ceremony celebrates and rewards the best animation work produced by students in Ireland and from around the world, in categories covering everything from 2D animation, stopmotion, 3D CGI and even storywriting and music.
