Cartoon Network Planning Czech Language Localisation
According to Český Rozhlas, the public radio broadcaster in the Czech Republic (via representatives from cable company UPC Czech Republic), Turner Broadcasting System Europe are planning to localise Cartoon Network in the Czech language. It’s also not clear whether it’s a new channel launch or it will just be a Czech language audio channel added to Cartoon Network Central Eastern Europe, which is the version of Cartoon Network that is mostly received in the country, the latter would be the most likely option.
At the moment, there’s no date on when the Czech localisation will happen but according to Jaroslav Kolár, a spokesperson for UPC, it could happen sometime this summer. Cartoon Network has been available in the Czech Republic (undubbed and unlocalised) since the 1990’s and international children’s television rivals Nickelodeon and Disney Channel are present in the country.
